Jeannine Pearce, Candidate for Long Beach City Council District 2

Longtime 2nd District resident Jeannine Pearce is running for Long Beach City Council to ensure that all residents are well represented in local government. Jeannine's priorities include supporting a thriving local economy and a clean and safe environment for residents to enjoy and families to flourish.

Jeannine is a community organizer and leader who has spent her life dedicated to fighting for equity for those most marginalized, including the LGBTQ community, youth, and working families. She's seen this approach benefit all sectors of society and has proven successful in working with a broad range of constituents--from workers to business owners, elected officials to community members.

Jeannine is passionate about civic engagement--she believes that cities are their best when all stakeholders have a seat at the table. That's why she's worked with a number of community organizations to advance residents' understanding of political systems in Long Beach and their ability to make change. She's done this both as Director of the Long Beach Coalition for Good Jobs and a Healthy Community with the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy and as a volunteer with organizations including Building Healthy Communities: Long Beach and Housing Long Beach.

Their efforts include hosting leadership trainings and forums to engage community members, including the People's State of the City, which has drawn hundreds of attendees since its inception four years ago.

She has knocked on thousands of doors in Long Beach doing nonpartisan voter outreach as well as issue-based advocacy. In 2012, she helped lead the successful Measure N campaign, which raised the minimum wage for hotel workers in Long Beach with a 64% yes vote.

Jeannine currently serves as the Vice Chair for the City of Long Beach's Human Relations Committee. Her efforts in Long Beach earned her a seat on Mayor Robert Garcia's transition team and well as numerous community recognitions including Steward of the Second District (2015), Go Long Beach Award (2014), Women’s Democratic Study Club’s Betty Karnette Community Activist Award (2013), and Long Beach Post’s "40 Under 40" (2013).
