Another Neighborhood Leader Now Endorsing Jeannine Pearce for Long Beach City Council
LONG BEACH, CA – Jeannine Pearce announced today that she has received an endorsement from Alamitos Beach Neighborhood Association President Milton Smith.
Alamitos Beach Neighborhood Association (ABNA) encompasses the largest area of any neighborhood association in the second district. ABNA stretches between 4th street and Ocean Boulevard, an area that is commonly impacted by parking because of it’s proximity to the beach. Milton Smith’s work with the association includes reestablishing the ABNA Residential Parking Taskforce, which aims to alleviate the parking demand and encourage residents and visitors to park respectively. Parking is one of the biggest concerns in the second district, an issue that Jeannine Pearce has experience protecting.
“In observing Jeannine’s work on various committees and projects over the years, I will say that I don't know anyone who works harder to reach a goal. Jeannine has an amazing ability to see a need, listen to people's viewpoints, formulate a plan using all input, and then work to meet the need,” Said Smith “I hear people say all the time that the council needs members who listen, have common sense, and can bring people together to solve problems. That is what you will get with Jeannine.”
“I’m proud to earn Milton’s support because of all the great work he’s done serving our community. I know, that with the help of neighborhood leaders like Milton, together we can solve the problems residents deal with everyday, like parking, pollution, homelessness, and crime. As Margaret Mead said, ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has,’ in that spirit let us work toward achieving the real change we want to see,” Jeannine Pearce said in response to the endorsement.
Milton Smith joins Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal, Councilmember Rex Richardson, Councilmember Roberto Uranga, Pacific Shore Nation Organization of Women, the Long Beach Young Democrats, the Long Beach Yes We Can Democratic Club and the California Democratic Party in endorsing Pearce.
Pearce is running to for the open 2nd Council District seat on the Long Beach City Council. The election will be held in April of 2016.
